Cassie Rowland and Henry Tovey are the co-founders of Gather Design, a young British furniture company on a mission to rethink how furniture is designed, made and sold. Gather designs and sells tables, seating and storage crafted from sustainably sourced native UK ash, and works through a regional network of independent makers so that every piece is built within sixty miles of the customer's home. The pair have built the business around values of transparency, craftsmanship and environmental responsibility — each piece carries a scannable chip tracing its journey from woodland to home — and a percentage of every sale is reinvested into a grant scheme that funds tools, training and apprenticeships for the makers in their community. Their aim is to move customers away from cheap, anonymous imports and to help revive the legacy of British cabinetmaking, one locally made piece at a time.
